¹⁶ These are the ones appointed from the community, chiefs of their ancestral tribes and leaders of the divisions of Israel.

¹⁷ Moses and Aaron took these men who were selected by name ¹⁸ and they assembled the entire community on the first day of the second month. They registered them by their clans and their households, recording the name of each male 20 years old and above.
